Stocks

Monarch Handling Stocks
The handling stocks provide improved safety especially in situations where horses are not regularly handled. The horse can be restrained easily and safely without fear of injury to horse or handler and veterinary inspection of mares can be done with ease and without distress, including the use of scanners. Expensive therapy equipment can also be used safely with less danger of damage caused by restless horses.

The stocks are constructed of a strong framework which is bolted to the floor with a 33/35mm plantation grown hardwood timber infill. The adjustable height sides and front door are padded with close cell foam and will swing open to allow the horse to either walk straight through or be removed from the side. The sides are designed to give easy access to the horse’s lower body and legs without the need for extra assistance to keep them still.

Monarch Solarium
A solarium is being installed to provide height adjustable low energy infra red lamps 'angled in' directing the light towards the horse.

Benefits of using the Solarium include:

  • Speeds up drying of horses after washing down, with no fear of chills even in winter
  • Promotes muscle tone, improving performance
  • Treatment before work reduces 'warming up time'
  • Treatment after work reduces recovery time by reducing lactic acid build up
  • Promotes healing by reduction of inflammation and the deep treatment gives relief to back pain and other muscular problems
The Paddocks

Paddocks and Fields
All fields are 'Post & Rail' with safety in mind.
We implement a ‘Rest & Rotate’ programme of pasture management to prevent overgrazing. Our priority is to keep the paddocks clean by removing poisonous weeds, such as ragwort and droppings to help with worm control. All our horse have easy access to clean water and troughs which are fixed on a hard, well-drained surface to prevent poaching.
