Venetia is granddaughter of well-known owner and breeder
Percival Williams and has a training establishment in rural
Herefordshire close to the River Wye. As a keen and successful
amateur jockey in her youth between 1986 and 1988 she achieved
ten jump-racing wins and she also rode in the Grand National.
She gained her first success as a trainer with Storm North
at Worcester in 1995 and now sits comfortably in the top
table of trainers in England. Prolific horses include 1998
Pertemps King George VI winner Teeton Mill and the top-class
hurdler Lady Rebecca who was a small mare, but won 13 of
her 19 races, 7 of which were at Cheltenham, including winning
The Cleve Hurdle in 1999, 2000 & 2001.
Other highly regarded horses include 1999 Murphy’s
Gold Cup winner The Outback Way who also in 2001 finished
3rd in the Worlds richest jump race the Nakayama Grand Jump
in Tokyo, Japan. She has trained the winners of many big
races including the 1998 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup with Teeton
Mill, The Grand Annual Chase with Samakaan in 2000 &
Idole First winning twice at the Festival, The Coral Cup
Handicap Hurdle in 2005 & The Racing Post Plate in 2007.
